GAA Handball Coaching Series - From Fundamentals to Game Strategy

To build a consistent, accessible training series that supports the growth of GAA Handball in schools and clubs, equipping educators and coaches with the knowledge and visuals they need to deliver structured, engaging sessions.

We partnered with GAA Handball to produce a comprehensive training tool that brings coaching best practice to life — through on-court demonstrations, clear narration, and expert progression.

The video series needed to:

• Appeal to both qualified coaches and general PE instructors

• Structure content progressively from basic to advanced

• Feature real player demonstrations in controlled environments

• Use consistent visual framing and graphics across episodes

Be distributed across GAA channels, schools, coaching programmes and CPD workshops

We developed a repeatable filming format and visual style across the series:

• Filmed with multiple angles to show technique clearly

• Created segments focused on:

  • Grips and hand positioning

  • Basic movement and footwork

  • Drills for solo and partner play

  • Shot selection and in-game decision-making

  • Strategic positioning and advanced play

• Included on-screen graphics to reinforce terminology and progression

• Delivered videos in standalone and grouped formats for classroom or workshop use

Outcome

The series is now used by GAA Handball to:

• Support national rollout of youth and school handball programmes

• Provide consistent coaching frameworks for clubs, teachers and coaches

• Enhance the quality and confidence of handball instruction across Ireland
