June has arrived and the summer looks like it is finally here to stay! That means we’ll have less rain, longer periods of daylight and those beautiful cherry blossom trees blooming.
So what does this mean for your business?
May and June are the best months of the year to shoot a video for your business. Whether it’s a company profile video, a promotional video or any other style, it’s much cheaper and easier to shoot at this time of year. Why do you think Hollywood is so popular for film-makers? Daylight is the key to a good shot.
Longer hours of daylight gives your video shoot more flexibility. It means you can shoot outside, and it even helps shooting indoors as it’ll brighten up a dark room - provided it has windows. Sometimes it can cut production costs as when there is strong daylight, artificial lighting becomes less of a necessity.
I’m sure you’re now thinking, why is June any better than July and August? Well, since, on average, June is usually a little less sunny than July and August it means we get the benefit of bright daylight, without squinting eyes. No actor or interviewee wants to have the sun glaring in their eyes while they’re trying to talk on camera.
Also, there can be difficulties shooting corporate videos when a vast number of the staff are away on holiday. The last thing you want to happen is to organise a group shot of the staff and then realise that there isn’t a single day in July or August that everyone will be in the office!
