A practical training video for retail workers, created to support CSNA’s commitment to standards and consistency in the sale and return of print products.

OBJECTIVE

To produce a professional, easy-to-follow training video that outlines best practice procedures for handling the arrival, display, sale and returns of newspapers and magazines in convenience stores.

We worked with the CSNA to produce a foundational training video that can be rolled out nationally, helping ensure retail staff are confident, informed and consistent.

THE CHALLENGE

The CSNA needed a training tool that:

  • Covered all core procedures in a simple and accessible format

  • Reflected real in-store environments and daily routines

  • Could be used as part of a training series for new and existing staff

  • Provided a visual supplement to in-store manuals and checklists

  • Supported consistency across hundreds of independently operated outlets

We worked with the CSNA to produce a foundational training video that can be rolled out nationally

OUR APPROACH

We produced a clear, linear instructional video shot in a real retail setting:

  • Used on-site filming in a convenience store combined with screencast to show real-life steps

  • Covered processes including:

    • Accepting deliveries

    • Sorting and displaying stock

    • Handling daily and weekly titles

    • Completing returns accurately and efficiently

  • Included narration and on-screen text overlays to reinforce key points

  • Delivered in a format suitable for classroom-style training, digital platforms or staff onboarding

Tone: professional, neutral and clear — designed for efficient staff learning across diverse teams.

OUTCOME

The training video is now used by CSNA to:

  • Standardise onboarding and daily practices for news and magazine handling

  • Support retailers in maintaining accuracy and supplier compliance

  • Improve customer service consistency and store operations

  • Serve as part of a wider video training toolkit for members
